Former Congressional Candidate To Speak at University of Tennessee-Knoxville

A Report by Knox News:

A white nationalist who unsuccessfully ran for Chuck Fleischmann’s Congressional seat in 2016 under the slogan “Make America White Again,” in reference to uncontrolled non-white immigration, is holding an event on the University of Tennessee-Knoxville’s campus next week.

Rick Tyler, a member of the American Freedom Party now running to be president of the United States, according to Tyler’s Facebook page, will speak at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Alumni Memorial Building, which is next to Neyland Stadium, on the topic of “White Nationalism: Fact or Fiction.”

The American Freedom Party has been designated a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and is organized by Jamie Kelso, a former assistant to David Duke. Duke is a longtime leader of the Ku Klux Klan and former Republican Louisiana state representative.

Did redemption truly come to North Carolina in 1877? In 1870, Congress ratified the Fifteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which stated that “the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color or previous condition of servitude.” Regardless of Democratic control over the State government, this amendment still stood as the law of the land, and blacks, by this time making up a significant portion of the Republican Party, still held voting rights, continued to express those rights, and held office positions (Hahn 2003, 219-230). To circumvent the power of the Republican vote at the state level, in 1872 Democrats gerrymandered the Congressional districts, concentrating the black vote into the Second Congressional District. (Item #551) By doing so, Democrats effectively monopolized state power after 1877. Despite the efforts to circumvent black power, however, blacks could still vote. (Other methods of restricting black power are discussed in the section on “negro domination.”) It was not until the rise of populism in 1890 when disgruntled white farmers left the Democrats and the successful fusion of the Populists with the Republicans in 1894 that Democrats realized the dangers of allowing for any vote by African Americans. The 1898 Democratic campaign expressed that realization and determined to officially Redeem North Carolina through disfranchisement.

The Rise of the Nationalists

Around the world, the “deplorables” are electing populists to power.

Nationalists and populists the world ‘round made their voices heard loud and clear in recent elections in both Australia and the European Union (EU), riding the wave of populist sentiment and dissatisfaction with liberal elites pushing multiculturalism, open borders, and a radical “green” environmentalist agenda, dissatisfaction that was so well capitalized on by Donald Trump in the 2016 election.

Two weeks ago, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison stunned the elite political pundits and talking heads who had predicted his defeat for weeks by winning re-election. Morrison leads a coalition of national parties that maintained support in both the suburbs of Australia’s major metropolitan areas as well as in the countryside. The recently re-elected prime minister has voiced his admiration and support for Trump in the past, and it was clear he tapped into the populist talking points and agenda that helped the celebrity businessman-turned-politician fare so well in the last U.S. presidential election.
