Male Teacher In Trouble for Refusing to Watch Transgender Girl Undress in Boys Locker Room

A male physical education teacher has been told he could be fired after refusing to monitor boys showers in which a biological female could be present. That’s according to a leading legal group that specializes in cases of constitutional violation.

When a biological girl at Chasco Middle School in Port Richey, Fla. decided to self-identify as a male, she was granted immediate access to the boys’ locker room and bathrooms. In addition, according to a letter sent by Liberty Counsel, the boys nor their parents were given any forewarning of this decision.

AFP Participates in 2018 Midterm Elections

AFP leaders and rank-and-file members volunteered for several congressional-level campaigns throughout the country for the 2018 midterms.

Our leadership decided that it was important to continue the pro-Trump movement by working on behalf of Republican candidates, especially in the northeastern and West Coast states.

Party members were active in various campaign activities that included well-attended rallies, phone banking, literature distribution and sign placement.

Republican candidates enjoyed widespread support and enthusiasm from white voters, unlike in prior election years where the differences between the two-party candidates were marginal at best.

AFP anticipates fielding local level candidates for office in the 2019 election cycle, including targeted county and municipal seats.

Polish Leaders Sanction Massive Far-right March in Warsaw

Government officials have agreed to conduct a joint march with far-right organizations to commemorate Poland’s Independence Day, raising concerns that the ruling Law and Justice party is legitimizing fascist viewpoints.

Since 2009, the celebration of Polish Independence Day has become a rallying point for far-right organizations from all over Europe, some of which openly describe themselves as fascists or Nazis. This year marks the centenary of the country’s independence, an occasion which has drawn massive crowds.

Last year, the march attracted 60,000 people, making it the largest far-right gathering in the world. The event included explicitly white supremacist symbols and banners with slogans such as “White Europe” and “Refugees get out!” The rally was cited in a European Parliament resolution that encouraged member states to crack down on far-right groups, but the leadership of Poland seem to have other plans.

The Southern Poverty Libel Center

Scott has been all over the fact that the “respected” Southern Poverty Law Center (which seems to have little to do with either poverty or law) ought to be understood as a hate group, and finally someone in the mainstream media is having second thoughts about whether the SPLC deserves the high regard it receives. The Washington Post Magazine this weekend offers a long feature article by David Montgomery entitled “The State of Hate: Researchers at the Southern Poverty Law Center have set themselves up as the ultimate judges of hate in America. But are they judging fairly?”

The article is very long, and extremely wishy-washy on the subject of extremism and the SPLC’s handling of various conservative groups, but in the context of the mainstream media it might be read as a mild probation for the SPLC. Since the Post has a robust paywall, here are a few key excerpts:

President Trump Moves to Restrict Asylum Access at Southern Border

On Thursday, President Trump moved to restrict asylum claims at the southern border as the migrant caravans of mainly military-aged Central American males marches through Mexico to the United States.

The Department of Justice announced the move to restrict asylum Thursday afternoon.

How Third Parties Got Screwed This Election Season

Republicans and Democrats may genuinely hate each other, but they love their own power even more. That’s why they collude so often to keep those pesky Libertarians, Greens, and independents away from the lucrative levers of government.

The 2018 midterms have been chock full of two-party shenanigans, all too often aided and abetted by journalists, pollsters, and the voters themselves.

It all starts with ballot access. If a state government considers you a “major party,” getting on the ballot is a snap. Worst-case scenario, you need to collect signatures from a tiny fraction of your own registered voter base. Best case, you just show up.

Correcting the ADL’s False Anti-Semitism Statistic

David Bernstein has a well-done piece over at Tablet on the Anti-Defamation League’s claim that anti-Semitic hate incidents rose 57 percent between 2016 and 2017. Some key bits:

From Tablet Magazine:

In the wake of the horrific massacre in Pittsburgh on Saturday, many commentators are blaming President Trump for cultivating an atmosphere in which anti-Semitism flourishes. Dana Milbank of The Washington Post went so far as to claim that Jews are not safe in Donald Trump’s America.

The problem is that no sound empirical data exists that shows an increase in anti-Semitism during the Trump administration that would justify such claims, while the data that does exist, like a much cited ADL study, proves no such thing.

Undoubtedly many readers are silently protesting, “What about the ADL statistic showing a 57 percent increase in anti-Semitic incidents in 2017,” a figure reported by NPR, The New York Times, the Post, and many other media outlets.

In fact, that’s not what the study shows and despite the way it has been portrayed in the ADL’s own press release, the actual findings don’t even purport to show any such thing.

Most important, the study does not actually claim to count “anti-Semitic incidents,” as such but rather the reporting of these events. First, it purports to count those incidents that have been reported to the ADL by the media, law enforcement, and the public. The ADL acknowledges that some of the increase in documented incidents is not an actual increase, but results from “more people … reporting incidents to ADL than ever before.”

Second, the report does not count only actual anti-Semitic incidents, but any incident that results “in Jews perceiving themselves as being victimized due to their Jewish identity.” As a result of this methodological tic, the ADL’s tally includes 163 bomb threats made to Jewish Community Centers and other Jewish institutions in early 2017, even though the two perpetrators were not motivated by anti-Semitism.

Relatedly, 2017 saw an unusually high level of concern in the Jewish community over perceived threats, a result of both Trump’s victory and the JCC calls. This likely led to an increase in ambiguous incidents being reported to the ADL as anti-Semitic. We know, for example, that one purported example of anti-Semitic cemetery vandalism turned out to be just old stones toppling over from poor upkeep (the ADL deleted that one from its tally), and another turned out, according to police, to be the product of a “drunk and mad” individual with no anti-Semitic intent (the ADL did not delete that one from its tally).

The ADL also reports that “college campuses saw a total of 204 incidents in 2017, compared to 108 in 2016.” How many of these incidents were of the alt-right nationalist variety, and how many were related to leftist anti-Israel activism? There is no way of knowing from the ADL study, but to the extent the latter was the cause, that could hardly be blamed on Trump.

Finally, it’s worth noting, that despite showing a 57 percent increase in incidents overall, from 1,267 to 1,986, the ADL study shows a 47 percent decrease in physical assaults, from 37 to 19. This is obviously inconsistent with the meme that 2017 saw a surge in violent anti-Semitism. Physical assaults are also the most objective sort of incident to document, which adds to concerns about the robustness of the rest of the data.

The ADL itself is primarily to blame for how its own study has been misconstrued and misused. As noted, the ADL’s press release accompanying the report was highly misleading. It publicized the assertion “that the number of anti-Semitic incidents was nearly 60 percent higher in 2017 than 2016,” which then became a meme and has spread throughout the media.

Unfortunately, we can’t attribute the press release simply to overly enthusiastic PR personnel. ADL president Jonathan Greenblatt distorted the report’s findings as recently as two days ago in The New York Times, asserting that the ADL report found a 57 percent increase in anti-Semitic incidents in 2017. He added rather misleadingly that this figure includes “physical assaults,” though one assumes he understands that the report actually showed a large decrease in physical assaults.

I have no desire to let Trump off the hook for his very real flaws, and I am not nor have I been a Trump supporter or apologist. But the Jewish community’s assessment of the dangers of anti-Semitism should be based on documented facts, not ideology, emotion, partisanship, or panic. And the truth is this: The claim that anti-Semitic incidents increased 57 percent in 2017 is contradicted by the very ADL study on which that claim is based.

The SPLC’s Hateful ‘Hate Speech’ Rules for Social Media

Leftist indoctrination, not combating “hate,” is the real goal behind this new push.

The Southern Poverty Law Center recently announced its policy recommendations for social media and Internet companies to help them “reduce hateful activities on their platforms.” Under its “Change the Terms” initiative, the SPLC aims to “ensure that companies are doing their part to help combat hateful conduct on their platforms” by encouraging social media companies to “adopt and implement” their “model corporate policies,” otherwise known as “Curbing Hate Online: What Companies Should Do Now.” That “encouragement” will take the form of the SPLC and other organizations tracking the “progress of major tech companies” and then giving them “report cards” on how well they have complied with and executed these “anti-hate speech policies.” Hello, 1984.

As we have repeatedly noted, the leftist SPLC is anything but an impartial judge on “hate.” Quite the contrary. And the suggestion that the SPLC has any true concern over protecting Americans’ First Amendment rights is downright laughable. Rather, this action by the SPLC is exactly the opposite. It is a blatant attempt to pressure social-media companies into producing policies that actively work to silence the speech of people the SPLC finds offensive. As if social-media giants needed any help suppressing speech.

SPLC Leads Soros-Funded Groups in ‘Orwellian’ Attempt to Ban ‘Hate Speech’ on Social Media

By Tyler O’Neil/PJ Media:

Last week, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) teamed up with five other groups funded by George Soros to pressure tech companies to “reduce hateful activities on their platforms.” While this sounds like a noble goal, mainstream conservative and Christian groups that have fallen afoul of the SPLC warned that these liberal organizations have an “Orwellian” definition of hate that most Americans would disagree with. Worse, social media companies already seem biased against conservatives, and this SPLC campaign would only embolden that bias.

On Wednesday, the SPLC led a coalition of groups in releasing “Change the Terms,” aiming to convince Big Tech to “reduce hateful activities on their platforms.” The coalition warned that “white supremacist and other organizations that incite hate are using online platforms to organize, fund, recruit supporters for, and normalize racism, sexism, religious bigotry, as well as anti-LGBTQ and anti-immigrant animus, among other activities.”

Far-right Army Man Bolsonaro Wins Brazil Vote

Far-right former army captain Jair Bolsonaro, dubbed the “Brazilian Trump,” was elected president of Brazil on Sunday, beating leftist opponent Fernando Haddad in a runoff election after a bitter and polarized campaign.

Supporters flooded the streets outside Bolsonaro’s home in Rio de Janeiro after the result was announced, waving Brazilian flags and lighting up the sky with fireworks.

Official results gave the controversial president-elect 55.18 percent of the vote with more than 99.7 percent of the ballots counted, as his vow to rescue the country from crisis with a firm grip resonated with voters furious over corruption, crime and economic malaise.
