Should The U.S. Back Off Support For Israel?

A guest columnist accuses Israel of ethnic cleansing, and calls for an end to U.S. support

The U.S. shouldn’t support Israel [the U.S. should stand with Europe] if Israel continues its settlement policy on the West Bank. That policy is now too costly to the U.S. and the West as a whole to continue to support.

Stand With EuropeThe settlement policy is ethnic cleansing: removing from the land one people to make room for preferred immigrants — immigrant “settlers” from abroad to populate an expanded Israeli homeland. It’s been going on now, day by painful day, for a third of a century. As long as it is going on, Israel cannot be seen as seeking peace in good faith.

The expansion policy can continue only as long as there is conflict. Permanent peace fixes borders — ends expansion — and so Israel is not interested in moving toward it.

The victims are not terrorists, but families living on the land Israel desires to repopulate with immigrants. Muslims are treated as a generic whole by Israel, each a threat. The billion Muslims in the world see themselves as individual people with rights

The result is Muslims from all over the world — the U.S. itself, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia — are flocking to join ISIS’s violent rejection of the West. In the immediate aftermath of 9-11, E.L. Doctorow wrote that it might be the beginning of a whole century of war between civilizations: the West and the Islamic world. I thought it was absurd at the time. Today, it seems much more credible.

We Americans have ignored this problem, treating it as a local dispute distant from our shores. We no longer can afford to. Day by day, the evictions by Israeli bulldozers and tanks have been featured on television in the Islamic world, with its billion people. It has taught an entire generation of Muslim youth that the values of the West — respect for individuals and democracy — are frauds. The lesson being taught by the policy in the Islamic world is that the West doesn’t consider Muslims deserving of those rights

If there is to be a competition between civilizations, the strongest tool the West has is its values, respect for individuals and democracy. By supporting Israel’s ethnic cleansing of the West Bank and accepting its dehumanization of Muslims, we have taught a whole generation of Muslims that those values are fraudulent, not applicable to them, and that Muslims are not worth the rights the West says it values.

What needs to be added here is mention of the Zionist-ISIS connection. As enemies of Iran and Syria, the Zionist rulers back takfiri Saudi Arabia, the real force behind ISIS. Also, wounded al-Qaeda terrorists are treated in Zionist hospitals.

Scott, can you send an email or possibly a write-up about this??

      • Scott Shumaker says:

Sorry about the delay in my reply, due to technical difficulties. Yes, I will send you a write-up on this, as I feel it is important to point out the contradiction between our security and Zionist interests. I will attach it to an email. Expect it in a couple days.
